God Lives Under My Bed
God lives under my bed, beside the lizard kings and my black sand
When I talk to them, they answer
“You’re a child” says the mama spider
“your mad” says the vampire
God says nothing
When I sit in the dark god whispers “turn on the light”
I do not answer.
I do not want too.
I like the dark.
When I fight with god, the earth becomes sad.
I console the earth like a child.
She weeps, and so do I.
“You’re a stupid child” blisters the demon.
“you remind me of a crocodile” whispers the behemoth.
God says nothing.
When the bug bear visits, god grows loud, god shakes my bed.
God pushes the mountains and crashes the seas.
I do not listen.
I welcome my friend.
“you have no power” moans the satyr.
“you will be devoured” cries the moon vapour
God says nothing.
God lives under my bed. Beside the lizard kings and my black sand.
When I talk to them, they answer.
But God still says nothing.
