Monster Number 7

Monster Number 7 is also a creature of The Pitt. It is a divided being. Half of the monster is devoted to the external, the outward persona, and the other half is its essential being, stripped of all social conventions. This creature is agonized because they have no way of merging these two conflicting parts of their being. The use of bright colours and the exaggerated cartoon features in my style is a way of making the work more accessible. My goal is for people to look at their fears, rather than being debilitated and immobilized by them. This is part of a series of forty prints of various monsters that inhabit The Pitt. This piece was created in a sketchbook with pen, and then scanned and printed.
